Meet the Artist

Cam tells his story to help you engage with his Artwork

Cameron, the artist, tells you why he likes to create his artwork, and why all of us should spend time doing what we love.

“My artwork is a celebration of the beauty of waves and the pursuit of surfers to catch their dream waves. Like many of us, I am constantly mesmerised by the beauty of waves. I love them because they are always different yet always the same. Through my lifelong passion for surfing, I get the privilege of spending lots of time observing waves and thus spawns the desire to create images of what I see. You know those moments when you wish you could take a photo with your eyes. And with all the infinite combinations of lighting, wave shapes and angles, there is no shortage of inspiration.”

“I have always drawn as a kid, I remember doodling a lot on my hand as well as schoolwork. Through my teenage years the art to a step back in my life, making way for academic studies, but I picked it up again when I when to spend a year in Australia in my early 20’s. I quickly found that my obsession with surfing was the perfect source of artwork creation and everything came naturally.”

“I now enjoy creating artwork both traditionally using paint on canvas, as well as exploring digital art on an iPad. Both are extremely rewarding in their own ways and bring out different styles in my artwork. I also enjoy creating custom artwork for people, most commonly giving my artistic twist on a few reference photos of a place they like. As with all artists, my inspiration levels fluctuate, and so I’ve found that it creates for a nice balance in life where we don’t have to be creating all the time.”

“I hope you enjoy looking through my artwork, and please feel free for it to inspire you to do more of what you love.”
